How to get to Shangri-La from Lijiang (China) by bus

Shangrila (香格里拉; Xiānggélǐlā; formerly Zhongdian 中甸 in Chinese, known as Gyalthang in Tibetan) is in Yunnan Province, China. Zhongdian (as known by many Chinese) was renamed as Shangrila for marketing reasons.

From Kunming: the distance to Shangrila is 12-hour drive. From Dali, it is a 6 -hour drive. Both are served by night and day buses.
From Shangrila to Chengdu: Take a sleeper bus to Pan Zhi Hua(攀枝花) at 5.10PM, with dinner break, arriving at 5AM. Then take a 25 minute taxi journey to the train station to catch a midday train to Chengdu (if there's no train schedule in the morning). The train arrives at 11.15PM and costs Y82 for a hard seat. All in all, it takes around 31 hours from Shangrila to Chengdu.
